McLaren M23 as driven by Mike Hailwood 

The undisputed King of Grand Prix motorbike racing switched to four wheels and won the European Formula 2 title in 1972. The following move to McLaren should have been the key to his driving career, but fate decided otherwise. 

We look at the McLaren M23, designed by Gordon Coppuck. The car’s racing career was long and glorious. Debuting in 1973, it raced until 1978, winning two World Championship crowns.
