Renault RE30 as driven by Alain Prost
The conflict between the Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile and the Formula One Constructors’ Association bubbled over into 1981.
Renault hoped to to reap the benefits of its hard work developing its turbo engine for the RE30: the single-seater performed well but precious time had been lost in the early part of the season. Prost, however, took the first victory of what would become an extraordinary career.
